KP FROM DOUBLE SHOT OF LOVE PORTABLE

It has better output than either camera and more portable than the K-3. Over the next 4 years 95% of my pictures were with the KP. I bought it when it first came out and I already had a K-3 and a K-01 and I intended the KP as a companion camera with the K-3. It has good output, similar but slightly better than the K-70.

I find it a solid, relatively compact DSLR. Of the 3 choices for the hand grip on the right side I like the medium, but of course YMMV. I prefer the smaller size of the camera alone. Lastly, like the K-70 and my old K-5 IIs, it has an onboard flash. The shutter is much quieter than the K-70, more like the K-5.

It is a durable camera with more robust innards than the K-70. Next - do the new lenses work on the KP?ĭurability - it's been out for six years. There are some things that people prefer on the K-70 like swivel rear screen, the grip and slightly stronger flash.Ĭorrect, it uses a stepper like other higher end Pentax cameras. So I'm assuming the KP is a better camera? The KP goes for approx $800 new on Amazon, vs $600 for a new K-70. Thinking about getting a KP to replace my K-70. I would take the time to do that because in the case of my DA 21mm green ring prime, it made a noticeable difference. I did need to go through the "fine tune" autofocus business for two of my primes on the KP. A K3iii has more heft, probably better K5 like ergonomics and more features than I require. It will autofocus better than a KP, which may or may not be a consideration for your action events. It *is* on the small side, probably similar to the K70. No experience here, but battery lasts long enough for me and if I worried about it, a spare battery is easy enough to carry.Ĭomments from your KP experience are greatly appreciated! has anyone bought the optional KP grip that can hold the larger K-5 IIs-type battery? The function dial and setting dial on the top right have firm detents.Īnd and. Note the top mode dial requires the top button to be pressed in order to change modes. I use it to "lock" or "unlock" the rear controls, so I don't accidently move them. There is a left back button below the mode dial which is programable. I use C1 to quickly engage exposure bracketing. The "third wheel" allows several options one may be interested in. Live View is toggled with a switch behind the Function Dial. Is it really new?Īnd, if you are a KP owner - can you assign a Live View toggle to the button at top left on the back?

  • $800 new is a good price for a new KP.
  • Any repeated breakdown problems? Lastly, like the K-70 and my old K-5 IIs, it has an onboard flash. So I'm assuming the KP is a better camera? No potential solenoid issue? Next - do the new lenses work on the KP? Durability - it's been out for six years.
